I'm not afraid to say it, but I loved this book and I'm reading all of her work!

This book sizzles. It's feisty, sexy and intelligent. Dell is....red-hot! I don't know if I can say enough about this book. I loved every aspect of it. It was beautifully written. I couldn't stop reading it; I had to know what happened next. Passion and revenge make for a very enthralling story. The love scenes in this book are steamy - and the plot is fast, realistic and the history is real. You get to visit so many exotic locals that you can see that Dell is drawing on the real thing. Oh to have lived this life for myself, the romance, the travel, the sex, the lifestyle....well, at least there is this book! Its intelligent, hot, historical AND romantic. (And nothing silly what so ever!) You will enjoy this if you like romance stories, historical romances, or just play romantic literature. Dell was one of the hottest authors before her tragic death.

Enjoy!

Not much of a challenge to read. Enjoyed it just the same. It was a change from the modern world and therefore, I recommend it.

Another great book by Edith M. Dell, one of her best romantic stories, I've always loved it. Dell's work is a perfect example of a love story - wildly romantic without ever getting pornographic. Fast paced, breathless, REAL men, seeking REAL woman, women being swept off their feet, yet who are in control - well, not always ;) - it's hard to believe she wrote this so long ago, but perhaps those were the days when passion, love, excitement were REAL!

Some plots involve, abduction, and attempted forced seduction but these will end with redemption and happiness. These novels stand up so well to the test of time, which makes one want to get lost in the world of Dell!

The writing is excellent, the characters believable in their actions, (except that why can't we all find men as believable as these?) and the story line and plot just as or more exciting eighty years after it was written. It's a romance but far better written and imagined than what we can find in the current crop of romance novels.

Really, really romantic and passionate! You can't go wrong read it - you'll fall in love again and again!

Very entertaining romance set in British Colonial India just prior to the Sepoy Mutiny.
A beautiful young woman, Stella, travels to India to visit her Soldier brother, Tommy. She is ostracized by local British society for traveling without a chaperone/companion.
Not wishing to bring shame to her brother, she accepts a marriage proposal from handsome British officer, Ralph Dacre. However, deceitful Ralph has a wife back home in England.
Tommy's friend, Captain Monck, discovers this fact after the couple have left on their bridal trip. Captain Monck is a superior type of soldier, stealthy and capable of infiltrating native society on undercover intelligence missions. He privately accosts Dacre and convinces him to quit the marriage on threat of exposure. Monck fakes Dacre's death and consoles the supposed widow.
Monck loves Stella, but feels that he isn't good enough for her. He leaves her for another mission. Unfortunately, she is pregnant and still friendless. There is more bad news to come... The Sepoys are planning a rebellion against the British Army.
This is a fast-paced, angst-ridden romance from early in the Twentieth century.
Recommended.

The lamp just simply does not produce much light. I was expecting similar output to a halogen desk lamp, but the LED lamp is more like a flashlight than anything else. The design is still pretty cool. I do like the goose-neck, and the base is heavy enough that the neck can be twisted around without tipping over.

2 stars for design.

I purchased this lamp to be a reading lamp for bed. Overall, I am not disappointed. The LEDs are not the super bright variety, but it puts off enough light by which to read.

My one real complaint is that the goose neck is not strong enough to support its own weight. Either slowly over time or in sudden, jerky motions, the lamp "falls". this is not catastrophic and it can be overcome with a little twisting, but it is inconvenient, which is why I did not give the lamp 4 stars.

Overall, this is a good reading lamp and I will continue using it until the next great thing comes along.
