How to keep my brass lamp from oxidizing?

What can I use to keep brass from oxidizing. Something safe that I may wipe on after cleaning the brass. I do not want to use polyurethane or clear lacquer. Someone suggested applying a coat of good bee’s wax ! Any other suggestions? Thank you!

  1. I would try an automotive paste wax.

  2. I used to refinish polished brass/copper and the one way it does work very well is clear lacquer. I know this isn’t what you may not want to hear but it works VERY well if done right.

  3. It is normal for the brass to want to oxidize. The only way to slow that process down is to either chemically treat the brass (which would mean a complete disassembly of the lamp, treatment, and then reassembly) or apply a coating.

The coating can be something like a lacquer or clear varnish or use a clear paste wax.

It will also help to keep the humidity down in the area near the lamp (moisture is an integral part of oxidation).
