any will do. you don’t really need a fuse at all, just something to close the circuit.

Usually 3A. Don’t use higher than 5A.

I can,t beleive some of the answers on here.
There is no such thing as a 2 amp fuse and 5 amp are no longer used under the new regulations.
A 3 amp is quite sufficient for a bedside light.
The general rule is, if the appliance is up to 700 watts then use a 3 amp fuse. If it is over 700 watt, then use a 13 amp.
The guy who has had 13 amp fuses in his bedside lights for years has obviously not had a fault on them yet. He may change his mind after his house burns down. And the one who says you don,t need a fuse at all has had too much to drink.
Remember the fuse is there for your safety–use the correct ones.

Usually 3 amp, but check the lamp/cord for any stickers giving guidelines (often there will be a sticky tag around the cord near to the plug).

If you have bought a multi pack use the lowest rated one,eg, it`s probably only a 60w bulb so will be ok.

The fact you ask the question is worrying. Goes like this.
for any appliance (iron, kettle, hairdryer)
AMPS = WATTS / VOLTS.
Always use the lowest rating of fuse. 3amp, 5 amp, 13 amp.
3 amp fuse load 3 X 230 = 690 watts
5 amp fuse load 5 X 230 = 1150 watts
13 amp fuse load 13 X 230 = 2990 watts
A fuse is a safety device, lets consider that the cable for your table lamp is rated at 6 amp, the lamp is 100watts (approx 1/2 amp) the fuse is 13 amps, and you get a short in the lampholder. Which will go first???? not the fuse…. thats 13 amps. The cable will burn. You should have put a 5 amp in……
Please, nip round now…. hands up if your kettle is 1000 watts (4 amps) and has a 13 amp fuse….???? Change the fuse to a 5 amp, much safer.
