In a typical desk light where you can screw in a normal
incandescent or flourescent bulb, is this an electric or a magnetic ballast? Is there a way to tell?

I have 2 lamps made from ceramic and polished brass. The top is ceramic and bottom polished brass. Please give me info on how to revamp these lamps, especially the brass section. I have one UVB 5.0 Lamp, and 2 household heat lamps. How long do i keep each on for and are there any further instructions?
I leave the lamp on for 12 hours and off for 12 hours; this simulates day and night.
