I bought these beautiful stain glass lamps. They have a greasy film that smells like gas on them. I’ve tried using windex, and even shampooed them, but the yucky smelling film is still there. Any suggestions on how to remove it? Also, is it dangerous (to turn on my lamps with that film?) or toxic (to the touch or smell)? Thanks!

I suggest you use your imagination. Check some of the websites which sell floor lamps such as pottery barn, home depot, Costco.
Have a look at what they offer and try to imagine what would this lamp look in your room, given all the colors and elements you mentioned.
A floor lamp takes less space and lights more area. Obviously, also cheaper as you don’t have to buy an end table. A modern metal finish (chrome) fits with almost most styles.

It is a liquid chemical called patina. It comes in several finishes.

I have tried energy efficient but because the lamp has a dimmer on it it does not work right and it looks like I am having a light show in my house because of the constant blinking. Any help appreciated.
An incandescent dimmer will not work with a fluorescent lamp, which I think is what you tried. I’m not sure about LEDs, if they will work with the dimmer or not. They are more efficient, but they still generate heat. You will not find a 100% efficient light source.
